Walmart Community Impact Partnership

The Collaborative Expansion Foundation is proud to partner with Walmart stores across Southern California to support seniors through the Senior Community Enrichment Program. We have proudly represented Spark Good as a partner since 2019.

Funding Request:

$5,000 from the Walmart Spark Good Local Grant Program

Organization:

Collaborative Expansion Foundation 501(c)(3) Public Charity

Program: Spark the Mind • Nourish the People • Shape the Future

Spark Good Community Initiative

Through the Spark Good Program, Collaborative Expansion Foundation is bringing high-quality, accessible support directly into communities across California serving seniors, families, and caregivers with both immediate relief and long-term resources.

In each selected community, we host a series of four community-based engagement events, reaching approximately 200 participants per location. These events are thoughtfully designed to provide more than just a moment of support, they create lasting impact through nourishment, education, and ongoing connection.

During each event, participants receive food boxes to help address food insecurity. Through partnerships with local organizations and in-kind donations, we are able to expand our reach while using funding to support the packaging, coordination, and delivery of meals including distribution to seniors who are homebound or face mobility challenges. This ensures that no one is left out due to access barriers.

Each gathering also includes a 90-minute educational seminar focused on topics that directly affect seniors and their families. These sessions cover health and wellness, Social Security awareness, fraud prevention, understanding artificial intelligence, financial literacy, and resources that address isolation and long-term care needs. Participants also receive professionally developed, printed educational toolkits designed to be kept and used as ongoing references long after the event ends.

Beyond the day of the event, participants are introduced to a trusted network of senior advocates who serve as year-round community resources available up to 360 days a year. These advocates provide guidance, answer questions, and help individuals navigate healthcare, financial, and social support systems with confidence.

Each event is hosted in a welcoming and accessible environment, intentionally designed to promote dignity, comfort, and connection. From thoughtful setup to small touches like centerpieces and participant giveaways, every detail is meant to create a space where seniors feel seen, valued, and supported.

To further extend our impact, the Spark Good initiative also includes ongoing monthly food distributions and workshops at local community centers, with a goal of reaching over 500 community members throughout the season. These continued efforts strengthen community resilience by providing consistent access to nutrition, education, and support.

This initiative is more than a series of events. It is a structured, high-touch program that combines nutrition, education, and human connection to empower seniors and families today while building stronger, more resilient communities for the future.

Participants will also be introduced to a network of trusted senior advocates who can provide guidance and support throughout the year. These advocates will serve as ongoing community resources, helping seniors and families navigate services, ask questions, and stay connected to trusted support systems.
